Ancestry echoes. Spirit connects. Essence reveals.
A Los Angeles native with deep connections to the American South. Ankofa’s love of artistic expression began early in her childhood and grew exponentially under the influence of her caretaker and late aunt, Varnette P. Honeywood. Her expression was nurtured through programming from California Institute of the Arts and Marist College’s Studio Art department. So inspired by artist’s impact on her life and community, she co produced and curated The Kollective Sessions, an exhibition for native Los Angelenos to cultivate community through lateral networking. A practice she has carried into actualizing artful living with the team of All Real Things in New Orleans. Now back in her hometown, she is sharing the gift of art through accessible offerings to aide her community in building a dynamic and spiritful living.
